Managing WearOS Notifications on Android

Managing WearOS Notifications on Android

Notifications on your WearOS device can be a great convenience, but managing them effectively can enhance your experience. Here's how you can control and customize your notification settings:

Vibration Patterns:
- Your watch's notification settings match those on your phone, determining whether notifications vibrate or remain silent. To customize the vibration pattern:
   - On your watch, go to Settings > Apps & notifications > Vibrate pattern. Ensure it's not set to "double" (two buzzes in a row).

Theatre Mode:
- During sleep or other situations when you want to mute notifications and conserve battery, you can activate Theatre Mode. To do this, swipe down from the watch face to access quick settings. Select Theatre Mode (the middle center icon resembling a watch). This mode turns off the screen and mutes notifications until you press the side button. It will automatically deactivate after 12 hours.

Do Not Disturb (DND) Settings:
- Your watch shares the same Do Not Disturb settings as your phone. You can also enable the "Alarms only" DND setting directly from your watch. When your watch is muted, it won't vibrate for new notifications.

Phones with Android 6.0 & Up:
   - To silence all notifications on your watch, activate "Do not disturb" on your phone.

   - If you wish to receive only alarm notifications on your watch, follow these steps:
      - Wake up the watch if the screen is off.
      - Swipe down from the top of the screen.
      - Tap "Do not disturb."

   - Note: Depending on your phone, important notifications may still come through. Refer to your phone's "Do not disturb" settings for details.

Phones with Android 5.0 & Up:
   - To mute notifications and prevent your watch from vibrating for new notifications, you can use the "Mute notifications" feature.

   - Follow these steps:
      - Wake up the watch if the screen is off.
      - Swipe down from the top of the screen.
      - Tap "Mute notifications." When your watch is muted, you'll see "Notifications off."

   - Tip: If you muted your phone but not your watch, your watch will still vibrate. It follows individual app settings, not your phone's settings.

Blocking App Notifications:
- If you want to stop notifications from specific apps, you can block them using your watch or through the Wear OS app on your phone.

To block/unblock app notifications using your phone:
   - Open the Wear OS app on your Android phone or the companion app for your device (follow companion app instructions if applicable).
   - Under "Settings," tap "Notifications" or "Change watch notifications."
   - On some watches, you may find "Filter watch notifications."
   - Tap an app to block or unblock it.

By following these guidelines, you can have more control over your WearOS notifications and tailor them to your preferences.
