Troubleshooting WearOS Notification Issues on Android

Troubleshooting WearOS Notification Issues on Android

If you're facing issues with your WearOS watch not receiving notifications or vibrating, follow these troubleshooting steps to resolve the problem. Ensure you check your watch after each step to see if notifications start working.

1. Restart Your Watch and Phone:
   - First, try restarting your watch (Settings > System > Restart) and your phone. Check if notifications work after the restart.

2. Check Internet Connection:
   - Ensure that your phone is connected to the internet by visiting a website, such as news.google.com, to verify your connection.

3. Verify Bluetooth Settings:
   - Check your Bluetooth settings on your watch:
     - Swipe down from the top of the screen.
     - Touch and hold Bluetooth.
     - Tap "Pair new device."
     - If you don't see "Pair new device," check under "Available devices" or tap "More" > "Refresh."
     - Tap your watch's name (e.g., Moto360) and follow any on-screen instructions.
   - Note: If a passcode is required, try common passcodes like 0000 or 1234.

4. Check Android Bluetooth and Range:
   - Ensure your Android phone's Bluetooth is turned on and within range of your watch. If the watch disconnects, tap the "Tap to reconnect" card. The Disconnected icon won't appear if your watch is in Airplane mode.

5. Disable Do Not Disturb Mode:
   - If your phone is in Do Not Disturb mode, your watch won't receive notifications. Disable Do Not Disturb mode:
     - Open the Settings app on your Android phone.
     - Tap "Do Not Disturb" and turn it off.

6. Check Theatre Mode:
   - Ensure that your watch is not in Theatre Mode, which mutes notifications and turns off the screen until you press the side button.

7. Verify Phone Notification Settings:
   - Your watch's notifications are linked to your phone's settings. If your phone doesn't vibrate or make a sound for an app, your watch won't vibrate.
     - On your Android phone:
       - Open the Settings app.
       - Tap "Apps and notifications" > "Notifications."
       - Tap "App notifications."
       - If the app you want is listed as "Off," tap the app name, and then turn it on.

8. Check Blocked Notifications:
   - Ensure you haven't blocked specific types of notifications:
     - Open the Wear OS app or the companion app for your device on your phone. Follow companion app instructions if applicable.
     - Tap "Notifications" > "Block app notifications."
     - You'll find a list of any muted apps.
     - Next to the app you want to unmute, tap "Unblock."

9. Enable System Notifications:
   - If a specific app's notifications aren't appearing, open the app on your phone and verify its settings to ensure notifications are enabled:
     - On your Android phone, open the Settings app.
     - Tap "Apps & notifications" > "Notifications."
     - Tap "App notifications."
     - Find the app you want to check, and tap the app name. Ensure that notifications are turned on.

10. Factory Reset:
    - If all else fails, consider performing a factory reset on your watch. Please note that this action will erase all apps, settings, and data on your watch.
